• Organizes, directs, budgets for, controls and purchases for specific staff functions and <br /> subprograms such as nozzle maintenance, supplies,training equipment, breathing <br /> apparatus and various equipment maintenance programs. <br /> • Participates in Fire Department physical fitness program and directs Fire Fighters in <br /> physical fitness program. <br /> • Serves as training officer for one shift and performs such tasks as planning and conducting <br /> recruit training, and fire apparatus operator certification. <br /> • Plans, organizes, directs, budgets for, controls and purchases for special staff assignments <br /> such as hose testing, hydrant servicing and painting, fire alarm maintenance, etc. <br /> • Sets examples for subordinates by dress, appearance and attitude. <br /> • Performs staff and administrative functions as assigned. <br /> Firefighter Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to,the following: <br /> • Drive and operate fire apparatus. <br /> • Respond to fire,rescue,medical and other public service calls. <br /> • Operate a wide variety of specialized manual/powered tools,hose and ladders under <br /> hazardous conditions. <br /> • Maintain all tools and equipment. <br /> • Operate a variety of specialized medical equipment before and during emergencies. <br /> • Participate in a variety of training relating to all types of emergency and non-emergency <br /> responses. <br /> • Participate in fire prevention inspections and pre-fire planning. <br /> • Participate in Fire Prevention education and public relations. <br /> • Assist in fire investigations. <br /> • Participate in a physical fitness program. <br /> • Appear in court as necessary. <br /> • Perform minor station and grounds maintenance. <br /> • Use and wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus equipment. <br /> • Operate in confined and elevated areas. <br /> • Maintain fire hydrants. <br /> • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. <br /> • Perform work with a record of regular attendance and punctuality. <br /> Firefighter/Paramedic—In addition to the examples of important and essential duties for <br /> Firefighter, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> • Respond to medical emergency calls. <br /> • Evaluate condition of patient and monitor vital signs. <br /> • Communicate with base hospital and emergency medical dispatcher. <br /> • Select and implement a course of inedical action based on standing or verbal medical orders. <br /> • Interview patients and witnesses and observe evidence at the scene. <br /> ATTY/AGR/2012/AMENDMENTS/AMEND NO.2 SAN CARLOS FIRE <br /> REV:09-06-12 VR <br /> Page 8 of 75 <br />
