Dearleff: San Carlos and Redwood City are providing Cross Firefighter Services to each other pursuant to the Second Amendment. The Cross Firefighter Services were intended as an interim solution while we explored the possibility of Redwood City providing expanded fire and emergency services to San Carlos. The Second Amendment provides for the Cross Firefighter Services arrangement to expire on January 31, 2013 ("Cross Services Termination Date"), unless the City Managers agree in writing to extend the Cross Services Termination Date. At present, we are negotiating the terms for a potential expanded fire and emergency services, but it is anticipated that the discussions will continue beyond the current Cross Services Termination Date. As such, I am writing to propose a 3-month extension of the Cross Services Termination Date to March 31, 2013. As stated above, Section 3(e) of the Second Amendment provides that the Cross Services Termination Date may be extended by mutual written agreement of the City Managers. Assuming you are agreeable to extending the Cross Services Termination Date to March 31, 2013, please sign the enclosed copy of this letter where indicated and return it to me in the enclosed return envelope.
