Pete Hughes invited the community to the annual levee clean -up on Saturday, <br />September 13 beginning at 8:30 a.m with bagels and coffee, to enjoy the sunshine <br />while picking up along the way, and a barbecue lunch. The location is Mariner Park, <br />at the comer of Bridge and Redwood Shores Parkway. He staisd that BFI and the <br />San Mateo Credit Union is partnering to provide assistance and food. <br />Rudy Luca spoke of the conservation program and that staff indicated it would never <br />work. His second point regarded the Marina project and 600 apartments to be built <br />when Century 12 moves out. His question is how we are going to get the water <br />allocated. <br />Mayor Claire clarified that there is no deal on the Syufy property across the Bayshore <br />freeway and any project will go through the same process as any other development <br />proposal. <br />Merrily Robinson, a member of the Pride and Beautification Committee, stated that <br />her and her mother traveled to Alaska and that her father had helped build the Alcan <br />Highway 60 years ago. She stated that in researching in preparation for the trip, she <br />found that 61 years ago, a lonely military man put up a sign of his hometown in Iowa, <br />beginning a tradition. Pride and Beautification made a beautiful sign for Redwood <br />City and she and her mother took it to Alaska and posted it in the sign forest where at <br />the end of 2002 there was a total of 55,000 signs. She disseminated pictures of her <br />and her mother beside the sign and pictures of a portion of the sign forest. <br />7. CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine by the City Council and <br />are enacted by one motion and one vote. <br />M/S Hartnett/Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br />title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The motion <br />passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with Council Member <br />Jordan absent. <br />7.1 Section — Motions <br />A.
