SECTION 5. ~ The words and phrases of this Cooperative Agreement <br /> shall, for all purposes hereof unless otherwise defined herein, have the meanings assigned to such <br /> words and phrases in the Act. <br /> <br /> SECTION 6. OTHER COOPERATION AGREEMENTS, Nothing in this Cooperative <br /> Agreement shall prevent the County from entering into one or more agreements with other <br /> municipal corporations within the County, if deemed necessary and advisable to do so by the <br /> County. <br /> <br /> SECTION 7. ~ This Cooperative Agreement may be mended by one or <br />more supplemental agreements executed by the County and the City at any time. No alteration or <br />variation shall be valid unless made in writing and signed by the parties hereto, and no oral <br />understa~dlng or agreement shall be binding on the parties hereto. <br /> <br /> SECTION 8. ~ Nothing contained herein sh~ll be interpreted to impose a <br />relationship ofparmers or joim ventures between the City and the County. <br /> <br /> SECTION 9. VALIDITY OF AGRF-I:~-lqT. The validity ofthis Agreement and its <br />t~ms or provisions, as well as the rights and duties of the parties hereunder, and interpretation <br />and performance of this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California. <br /> <br /> SECTION 10. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. Under County% ull/maxe supervision and <br />responsibility, City covenants and agrees that it will abide by and enforce all applicable affirmative <br />action requirements including, but not limited to Executive Order 11246, the Equal Employment <br />Opportunities Act, the San Mateo County Affirmative Action Plan and local af~rmative action <br />plans. <br /> <br /> SECTION 11. NOnCeS. Any notice, request, demand or other communication required <br />or permitted hereunder shall be deemed to be properly given when deposited in the United States <br />mail, postage prepaid, or when deposited with a public telegraph company for transmittal, charges <br />prepaid, addressed: <br /> <br /> <br />
