Mr Smith advised that <br /> the City is monitoring the private "Handyman" services whereby <br /> small household repairs are made and that program might apply <br /> to tenants Mr Smith acknowledged the responsibillty of the <br /> property owner to maintain h�s property <br /> In response to question regarding the provision for three persons <br /> in the Housing Rehabilitation Program, Mr. Smith advised that pro- <br /> vision exists for two housing improvement advisors and clerical <br /> staff, noting that one of the advisors has left the City for em- <br /> ployment elsewhere and has not yet been replaced. . <br /> It was suggested a booklet might be issued by the City spelling <br /> out the rights and responsibilities of tenants and property <br /> owners as has been done in other cities <br /> MOTION Councilman Biagi moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, <br /> that the reference to tenants in item 2. of the ob�ectives for <br /> the Housing Rehabilitation Program be deleted as follows <br /> "2 Develop alternatives to expand rehabilitation loans <br /> to homeowners" <br /> , The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> General Engineering <br /> No discussion <br /> Community Promotion <br /> Comment was made regarding the value derived from the contribu- , <br /> tion to the San Mateo County Convention and Visitors Bureau and <br /> whether the amount recoirunended is adequate <br /> It was pointed out that although the direct benefits of the <br /> motel and restaurant business created by the Bureau is en�oyed <br /> by those in North County, a great many of the minority persons <br /> employed in service �obs there live in Redwood City, so there <br /> �s considerable indirect benefit to the City <br /> MOTION Councilman Bury moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, <br /> that based on the request of the San Mateo County Convention <br /> and Visitors Bureau for a 15� allocation from the Hotel-Motel <br /> Tax revenues, and because of their demonstrated success in <br /> generating economic benefit to Redwood City in creating �obs, <br /> ' that the City's contribution be increased from 12� (a10,000) to <br /> 15% ($12,600) <br /> Discussion followed concerning whether or not Redwood City's <br /> proposed contribution properly reflects the benefits received I <br /> -6- Ad�.Mtg <br /> 5/7/77 <br /> Budget <br />
