Shifrin, Coordinator of the Government <br /> Affairs Program, Sequo�a High School� re discont�nuance of the � <br /> Program (not an Agenda item). <br /> Attention was called to the sub�ect letter distributed to <br /> Council members where�n Mr. Shifrin states that the Program <br /> is being discontinued because the Police Department �s no <br /> longer able to conduct the "ride-along" part of the Program. <br /> City Manager Fales exQlained that the "ride-along" part of the <br /> Program places the City in an untenable position with regard <br /> to liability and the ability of police officers to perform <br /> properly, and observed that no difficulties existed with re- <br /> gard to the rest of the Program where City staff have provided <br /> ass�stance <br /> Favorable comment was made concerning the students who have <br /> participated in the Program and attended City Council and <br /> Planning Commission meetings in the past and reqret was ex- <br /> pressed at the apparent lack of enthusiasm among students to <br /> learn about their local government when the "ride-along" <br /> portion of the program had to be eliminated. <br /> Oral Commum cations <br /> 1.
