No one was present to represent Mr. Stewart": <br /> MOTION: Councilman Rhodes moved, seconded by Councilman Biagi, to ' <br /> continue the public hearing on the appeal of Lawrence Stewart re- <br /> lating to property at 3048 Hoover Street, unt�l January 10, 1977 _ <br /> and that the City Clerk be requested to contact Mr. Stewart re- � <br /> . gard�ng the date of hearing. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. � <br /> (MINUTE ORDER NO 77-9) <br /> Downtown Action Cortmittee <br /> City Manager Fales called attention to the resignations of most <br /> members of the Downtown Action Committee which have occurred as <br /> a result of the requirement of the Political Reform Act of 1974 <br /> that members of such committees must file statements of economic <br /> interest under the newly adopted conflict of interest codes, <br /> noting that many persons consider such statements an unreasonable <br /> invasion of personal privacy of those willing to contribute their <br /> time and efforts to the improvement ot thetr coimnunity Mr. Fales � <br /> observed that the Cortm�ttee had participated to a large extent in <br /> the smprovement of downtown Broadway and in planning of other <br /> downtown improvement pro�ects and suggested that the Chamber of <br /> Comnerce might wish to establish a similar committee in order � <br /> that the City might retain the benefits to be der�ved from such <br /> community participation <br /> In response to question, City Attorney Schricker advised that a <br /> Chamber committee would not be sub,7ect to the requirements of the <br /> Political Reform Act of 1974 and that no action is required to <br /> disband the present Downtown Action Corrnm ttee. � <br /> It was the consensus of Council that the suggestion of City � <br /> Manager Fales with regard to a committee similar to the Downtown <br /> Action Committee being established by the Chamber of Commerce �� <br /> be transmitted to the Chamber. Gilbert Ray Franc�s, 800 Main Street, Sequoia Hote1, com- <br /> mented concerning the deregulation of cable television rates <br /> with regard to the change concerning service calls (see <br /> statement of Ctity Attorney, page 6).
