In response to question�regarding a program�for unemployed young • people between the ages of 14 and 18, Assistant City Manager Srm th . advised that the program is being administered by the County Mr Smith reported that the City had reviewed the program and determined the City does not have�the capacity to admim ster it. �He observed that the City administers as'much of the CETA pro9ram as possible within its own limitations w�th regard to funds, super.visory per=. � sonnel, space, etc., but that the program will be available for � Redwood City youth whether it is administered by the Clty or the County. - - . _ Discussion followed and Mr. Fales and Mr Smith commented and re= plied to questions-regarding the position of the County as_program agent, the constraints upon the City�with regard to capacity to adm�nister specific programs, the manner in which information on programs is transmitted to the City, the need fpr ,7obs for young people, the possible benefit�to the cominum ty of youth �ob programs; � whether other commumties have beeri successful_with youth job.pro- grams, the manner in which the County"as program agent invites proposals for administration�of specific programs by cittes qualified ' to do so, and the desirability of having private industry partici- ' pate in youth �ob programs ` = : � . Title having been read, Counc�lman Norris introduced the following resolution and moved, seconded by Councilman Vega, its adoption ' RESOLUTION NO 7972 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZIN6 EXECUTION OF � AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AND THE CITY OF o REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (CETA) _- Councilman Biagi, representative to the Economic Opportun�ty Com- mission, reported that the Commission maintains close scrutiny � over CETA funds regarding both equitable distribution in the County and use of the funds The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote.
