Senate Bill No 2212 (Greqorio) Mayor Barrett noted that a report from the Director of Finance dated May 19, 1978 regarding the sub,7ect bill had been submitted to Council as part of the material relating to the 1978-79 Budget, and had been referred for consideration at this time The report recommended that the bill be strongly opposed by the Council, as it provides that the County Board of Supervisors may, where collective requests from the taxing entities within the County exceed the maximum which the County may receive from property taxes under Proposition No 13, that the Board of Supervisors may reduce or eliminate entirely the amount re- quested in order that the overall levy will not be exceeded This section of the B�11 gives no protection to the City, and the City must be assured that it will receive a proportionate share of taxes.
