NORI11 g <br /> ' Joint Meeting <br /> The Council of the City of Redwood City met on this date in a �oint <br /> meeting with the Board of Education of the Redwood City Elementary <br /> School District at 7 30 p.m. with Mayor Barrett presiding. <br /> Councilmen present Bury, Chandler, Rhodes and Mayor Barrett <br /> Councilmen absent• Biagi, Letpzig, Norris <br /> City staff present City Manager Fales, Assistant City Manager Smith, <br /> Director of Public Works Pusich, Planning Director Schroeter, Parks and <br /> Recreation Director Weeks, CHief Building Official Gyselbrecht, City <br /> Clerk Hildebrand and Police Chief Bold <br /> Board Members present Marshall, Mosher, Schenck, Sproul and President <br /> Cross <br /> Board Members absent None <br /> Board staff present Superintendent Wilson, Bill Crawford, Helen Shaughnessy <br /> ' DISCUSSION <br /> Mayor Barrett thanked Board members for accepting the Council's invitation <br /> to the Joint Meeting to attempt to establish a closer working relationship <br /> to the mutual benefit of the Council and the Board and, ultimately, for <br /> the residents of Redwood City. Mayor Barrett noted that apparently no <br /> such �oint meeting has ever been held �n the past, but that in view of <br /> the impact of Board and Council actions on matters relating to each other's <br /> �urisdictions, it would seem to be desirable that information and problems <br /> be shared, particularly in light of the greatly reduced budgets for the <br /> schools and the City caused by passage of Proposition 13. <br /> Mayor Barrett referred to the Agenda prepared by the Board listing discus- <br /> sion items for consideration generally at this time. (NOTE Discussion <br /> items are as follows <br /> "1. What are the land-use implications associated with the sale <br /> of surplus school properties <br /> "2 Signs at school crossings <br /> � "3. With the elimination of bus transportation for students, what <br /> is the impact on Redwood City's traffic c�rculation of the <br /> movement of large numbers of students on foot, by bicycle or <br /> ' automobile to distant schools <br /> "4 Use of school facilities <br /> "5.
