1 � g �_ � <br /> Proposed aqreement with Cities of San Carlos <br /> and Belmont re Fire Training Officer <br /> City Manager Fales referred to h�s report of March 2 regarding the <br /> sub�ect proposed agreement <br /> ' (Councilman Bury left the meeting at 4 05 p m) ' <br /> In response to suggestion that the proposed salary for the Fire <br /> Training Officer is rather high, Mr Fales advised that the salary <br /> � was set to insure that the Officer will be effective Mr. Fales <br /> noted that �t was considered to be essential that the position have <br /> command responsibilities over battalion chiefs, that multi- <br /> ,7urisdicttonal responsibilities are involved, and that salary is a <br /> significant factor in recognition by other members of the fire de- <br /> partments of the status of the position In further response to <br /> question, Mr Fales advised that the present Redwood City Fire <br /> Training Officer meets all the qualifications and ts the only qual- <br /> , ified person who is acceptable to all cities <br /> (Mr Fales left the meeting and Councilman Bury returned at 4 10 p.m ) <br /> Discussion followed and Mr Smith and City Attorney Schricker com- <br /> mented and replied to questions concerning the present salary range <br /> of the Officer, the large amount of increase in salary of the new <br /> position, whether or not the increased responsibilities would �ustify <br /> such a salary increase, the fact that the program is a trial one, the <br /> fact that the salary will be paid on a proportionate basis by the <br /> three cities, the fact that the program will represent a savtng to <br /> all of the cities, and how long it might delay the trial program, <br /> if it is necessary to renegotiate the salary of the Training Officer ' <br /> (City Manager Fales returned at 4•20 p m) <br /> MOTION Title hav�ng been read, Councilman Vega introduced the <br /> following resolution and ordinance and moved adoption of the reso- <br /> lution and approval for first reading of the ordinance <br /> � RESOLUTION APPROVING AfJD AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT <br /> WITH CITY OF BELMONT AND CITY OF SAN CARLOS FOR CERTAIN FIRE <br /> TRAINING COORDINATOR SERVICES AND REIMBURSEMENT THEREFOR <br /> ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO 1713, ESTAB- <br /> LISHIN6 SALARY AND WAGE PLAN FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATIONS <br /> RELATING TO MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL ASSIGNMENTS, AND CERTAIN <br /> DESIGNATED OFFICERS, TO ADJUST THE MONTHLY SALARY RATE FOR THE <br /> . CLASSIFICATION Of FIRE TRAINING COORDINATOR AND DELETE THE <br /> CLASSIFICATION OF HARBORMASTER <br /> The motion died for lack of a second <br /> MOTION Councilman Norris moved, seconded by Councilman Sury, to <br /> continue consjderation of the proposed agreement with the cities <br /> of San Carlos and Belmont relating to Fire Training Officer until <br /> March 20, 1978 1 <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote <br /> Ad,7 .
