� • . . � b <br /> , r � �+ �„ <br /> Lengthy discussion followed concerning the responsibil�ty of the � ` <br /> County to provide for its citizens; the various methods by which the <br /> Board of Supervisors might be persuaded to corrQm t the County to 50% <br /> of the operating cost of the Center, the amount anticipated to be <br /> received from the County, the need to prepare the budget on the bas�s <br /> of what can be anticipated as the County's contribution even though <br /> � tt is less than the County's equai share; the undestrability of <br /> cutting services or reducing hours, and whether the City might not <br /> offer to match the County's contribution with a resultin9 total <br /> which might be less than budgeted now. � <br /> MOTION Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Counc�lman Bury, that ; <br /> Council approve the recommended budget for the Communtty Center con- ,_� <br /> �r ditioned upon the Board of Supervisors appropriating 50% of the <br /> ' operating costs of the Center, making it clear 7t would be necessary <br /> to cut operations and hours of the Center unless the County commits �, <br /> itself to one-haif the cost <br /> Discusston continued and Mr Fales commented and replied to questions <br /> concerntng the need for the County to contribute half the cost of <br /> operation <br /> MOTION WITHDRAWN Councilman Barrett, with the consent of his second, ' <br /> withdrew his motion � <br /> � <br /> MOTION Councilman Biagi moved, seconded by Councilman Bury, to with- <br /> hold consideration of Community Center-Account No 590 of the Recom- , <br /> mended Annual Budget for 1976-77 pending receipt of'information from <br /> the City Manager evaluating the effects of 1) the City's budget <br /> as presented, 2) equal contributions from the City and County with <br /> ' services cut accordingly, if the County does not meet its full 50Y <br /> share of the recommended budget, and 3) a fu11 budget w�th the <br /> County contributing $23,780 over the $50,000 they have now budgeted <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote (MINUTE ORDER NO 76-123) <br /> Approval of Account No 590 was withheld pendtng receipt of the <br /> information requested in the motion above � <br /> City Clerk - Account No 420 (pp 16-17) � <br /> Mr FaTes advised that the substantial decrease ir the Recorr�nended <br /> Annual Budget 1976-77 over 1975-76 is because no election is an- <br /> ticipated for the forthcoming year � <br /> Discussion followed and City Clerk Hildebrand replied to questions <br /> and coimnented concerning the weekly Agenda advert�sement costs and <br /> the possibility of making greater use of the space for community <br /> information <br /> In response to question, Mrs Hildebrand advised that free copies <br /> of the City Council Agendas and Minutes are prov�ded to anyone who <br /> provides self-addressed, stamped envelopes for that purpose. <br /> Account No. 420 was approved as submitted <br /> , (Council recessed for lunch from 11 55 a.m to 1•45 p m.) <br /> -6- , � <br /> ' Budget Study <br /> 5/8/76 <br /> � _ , x <br /> _ �� <br />
