518 - - <br /> Approval of Plans, Specifications and <br /> Call for Bi s- Resurfacing of Desiynated Streets <br /> Assistant City Manager Smith referred to h�s report of August 5, <br /> 1976 regarding the resurfacing of designated streets and attaching re- ' <br /> port of the Director of Public Works of July 29. <br /> MOTION: Title having been read, Councilman Norris introduced the <br /> following resolution and moved, seconded by Councilman Yega, its <br /> ' adoption: <br /> � RESOLUTION N0. 7665 APPROVING SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR RESURFACING <br /> F DESIGNATED STREETS AND AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS <br /> � THEREFOR <br /> t <br /> f In response to questions, Director of Public Works Pusich Cescribed <br /> the resurfac�ng program and procedure, noting that an,inventory of <br /> the condition of all City streets is being put into the computer <br /> so that streets will be indicated for resurfacing, etc. on the bas9s <br /> of certain priorities. <br /> The resolution was adopted unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> Cancellation of contract with <br /> W iams & cine, Consu tants <br /> Assistant City Manager Smith referred to the report of the City <br /> Manager from the Planning Director of July 30, 1916 and recommended <br /> that the contract with Williams & Mocine be terminated. ' <br /> Discussion followed concerm ng the City's disappointment with the <br /> performance of the consultants in connection with their portion of <br /> the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. <br /> MOTION: Councilman Biag� moved. seconded by Councilman Vega. to <br /> authorize termination of the contract with Williams & Mocine in the <br /> manner provided for in the agreement, whereby the contractor would <br /> be paid for all services performed and all expenses incurred. <br /> Discussion continued and Mr. Smith commented and replied to questions <br /> regarding the Pact that staff will proceed with all of the work in- <br /> volved; the importance of looking closely at professional services <br /> contracts; the iact that the sub,�ect consultant en,�oys an ezcellent <br /> reputation but had encountered in-house adversities whicn affected <br /> their performance, and the fact that recent Saturdqy meetings re- <br /> garding the CDBG Strategy Plan indicates staff will do a good 3ob. <br /> The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> (MINUTE ORDER N0. 76-219) <br /> Report re request of Retirees <br /> Assistant City Manager Smith referred to his report of August 6, ' <br /> 1976 regarding the sub�ect request of retirees for increased benefits <br /> and attaching an actuarial report from the Public E�loyees Retire- <br /> ment System (PERS) with a sumnary by the City Controller. <br /> -5- <br /> Reg,Mtg.
