Carl Ferrell, Carl's Smoke Shop, Jefferson Avenue, sug- gested t at the newstands 9n front of the Post Office are unsightly and present a hazard to pedestrians. Mr. Ferrell requested the Council look into having them removed or re- placed by something comparable to those on Broadway. Mr Ferrell offered to improve those in front of his place of business also. City Manager Fales advised the staff will look into the matter. (memo 2/24/76) Staff report on Temporary Signs Councilman Norris called attention to the complete staff report distributed to Council this evening from the Building Department regarding temporary signs in general and responding to the accusa- tions of Mrs Karen Handler, a proprietor of Pte-in-the-Sky, made at the February 9, 1976 meeting. Councilman Norris requested that the Minutes record his statement calling attention to the fact that one of the accusations had been withdrawn and that certain statements made by Mrs Handler had � proved to be inaccurate. Councilman Norris coirunended staff for the promptness and thoroughness of the report on the matter Councilman Norris also commended the Police Department for a re- port on a recent investigation and the manner in which the in- vestigation was conducted. Chief Building Official Gyselbrecht referred to his report of February 20, 1976 to the City Manager, advising that in the absence of any ob�ections from Counc�l his office will proceed to set up the cortenittee described (memo 2/24/76) Executive Session MOTION Councilman Barrett moved, seconded by Councilman Norris, to adjourn to executive session for the purpose of discussing litigation and personnel matters.
