City Manager 4dead advised that he had notified <br /> Mr. Alldia that the permit for this si�i expired Jul,y j, and that it vrould <br /> be necessary to have Council annroval for the renewal of it. Gouncilman <br /> , Granger moved the matter be placed on the Agenda and tR_r. Alldis be asked to <br /> appear at the next meetin� of the Council to shoc� cause why the council should <br /> extend the permit. The motion vras seconded by Councilman Anderson and nassed <br /> unanimously. <br /> Applications for dance permits from Club Scamus znd Club Deacon were"received. and <br /> were held over until later in the meetin6. <br /> • Applications were received from P7..A. Van Buren a.nd Pleat Bay Motors requesting re- <br /> newal of used ca.r lot permits. P,'Ir. V�n Buren had deposited a certified check <br /> for $�200 subject to the granting of the permit. YJe3t Bay tdotors has a neer car <br /> agency so that no Pee.ia required. City I,4ana�zer Pdead reported that on June 6th <br /> a letter had. been sent to each used car lot dealer, after an insbection had been <br /> made by the engineering department, a_dvising them to talce steps to adhere to the <br /> ' provisions of the ordinances, Nos. 376 and 517. A further inspection had been <br /> made subsequent to that time and he stated that vrith the excentinn of ane lot <br /> ��hoae application for rene«al had not been received, the na3erity of the lots <br /> complied fairly v✓e11 with the ordinance. -He said tlze West B�� PdotorQ did not <br /> have an oiled surface but did have a water bound rock surface vrhich-cras in good <br /> condition. According to the terms of the ordinance, it vras reauired to have an <br /> oiled surface. He reported that the Van Buren lot did not have a fence and, after ��� <br /> refes7 in6 to the ordinance, it was determined that the ordinance did not s�ecifi- <br /> • cally require a fence around these lots. Councilman Armatrona then asked if the <br /> lots complied �i.th the ordinance. City Pdanager D:4ead adviaed tha.t P?r. Van Buren's <br /> did but that the West Bay Motors did not because of not hairing an oiled surface. <br /> Councilffian Granger moved that P.4r. Van Buren's perrait be renewed, secon@ed by <br /> Couneilman Armstrr�ng. Iviotion passed unanimousl,y. <br /> , Councilman Armstrong moved that the West B�,y ]afotors annlication for�renev�al <br /> permit be denied until the ordinance is complied r�ith, seconded by Councilman <br /> Granger. Under the ouestion, Councilman Britschgi said he was goin� to vote in the <br /> ne�ative for the reasnn that.he did notbelieve the oermit should be denied_but that <br /> ' the o*mer should be asked to appeQr before the Council and discuss the matter. He <br /> did not beliene it r:ou�d be pos�ible for him to liave his lot hard surf�ced for a <br /> fe��� months and did not believe he should be pen�lized fr�m doing business if he <br /> could show th�.t he ��rould have the «ork done rvithin a reasonab3e length of t3me.
