Councilman Britschgi expressed his thanks to the voters and ' <br /> promised to render as fair as possible. <br /> �4ayor Hilton thanked the Council for re-electing him Mayor and expressed the hope <br /> that the Council would work together�in harmony, <br /> A Mr. Dodd appeared before the Council in regard to the height of a fence around ' <br /> his property. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, <br /> that the matter be referred to the City Manager for action. Motion passed <br /> unaniinously. <br /> Oity Attorney rReCarthy�adcised that the map of Redwood Terrace No. 2 had been ap- <br /> proved by the Planning Commission and that it would be necessary for the <br /> subdividers to post a bond in the amount of �65,000 to guarantee the cost � � <br /> of etreet improvements. The:•map was presented to the Council and after <br /> � careful study, Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, <br /> that the final map of Redwood Terrace IvTO. 2 be accepted eubject to the <br /> apgroval of the State Highway Department. P�otion passed unanimously. <br /> Mr. �Verder of the Land Development Company advised that his compa.ny would deposit <br /> the s�,un of �65,000 instead of posting a bond in that amount. .Councilman <br /> Armstrong moved that the offer of Mr, Ludtivig tNerder to deposit �65,000 be � <br /> accepted subject to the terrns and condition� of a letter to be drafted by <br /> the City Attorne;,� and to be by the City Manager, the ,�65,000 to be <br /> deposited in a public deoository satisfactory to the City Pdanager. The <br /> motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi and passed unanimously. <br /> City Manager Blom ata.ted that with rega,rd to the vrater supply to the area of <br /> Redwood Terrace No. 2, it would be necessary to ha.ve authority to proceed <br /> with the work if it vuas the feeling of the Council that it is the city's • <br /> obligation to do the work, The work ahould be done before the street work, <br /> The co8t of installing an 8 inch main to the !'loodside main to provide water <br /> for at least partial development of the tract is estimated at �16,000. He <br /> stated that,eventua.11y a 12 ineli main would have to be installed instead of <br /> the 8 inch main. The material for this installation is available from the � <br /> material that has been ordered. Ae far as the cost of labor is concerned, - <br /> there are sufficient funds in the present water'department budget to com- <br /> plete this work and also to pay for a portion of the material. He said, <br /> " hoti*rever, that during the next fiscal year funds would have to be derived 1 <br /> from some other source if continued expa.nsion takes place. Councilman <br /> 'r"uerder asked if the first unit of work would be completed by the beginning <br /> of the next fiscal year. City Manager Blom replied that it would depend <br /> on how rapidly t_he tract is developed, however, the work should be finished <br /> by July lst and that there are sufficient funds for that.
