The Council <br /> expressed its eatisfaction with this procedure. . <br /> City Manager Blom stated that some time ago the Council euggested that some por- <br /> table loud apeaker equipraent be purchased. The city now hae an opportunity ' <br /> to purchase some equipment of that kind althou�h it is a different type than <br /> had been discuseed. This equipment can be carried by one man over one <br /> shoulder on a etrap. A test had been made of this equipment and it wae very <br /> eatisfaotory. He asked to be authorized to purchase thie loud speaker <br /> equiprqent for the fire department from the poet_war fund and to be available <br /> for other.departments when needed. Councilman Britachgi moved, seconded by � <br /> Councilman Granger, that the City Ma.nager be authorized to purchase this <br /> piece of equipment in the amount of $277,75. Motion passed <br /> City Manager Blom reported that he wtss waiting for delivery of water pipe in <br /> order to proceed with putting in the mains in two or three subdivieions and <br /> that the city wae not in a position to adnertise the work for bids until the <br /> delivery date of the pipe is known, He aeked to have a blanket authoritq ' <br /> to proceed immediately with the taking of bide for the work when the deliv- <br /> ery date ia ascertained. Councilraan Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman <br /> Britschgi, that the City Manager be authorized to call for bids for public <br /> improvementa previously discussed when, in his judgment, the city is in a <br /> position to furniah the required material. Motion paesed unanimously, <br /> Oity Attorney McCarthy adviaed that the property of the Congregational Churc2i has <br /> a"cloud" on it due to the fact that Middlefield Road was relocated approxi- <br /> mately twenty years ago and the unueed portion of it never vacated. Atbor- • <br /> ney Cuthbert Currie had asked that the city vacate it so that the title to <br /> the property would be clear. Councilman McNulty offered for adoption resolu- <br /> tion of intention to vacate the unused portion of Middlefield Road, formerly <br /> i*lebeter Street, aeconded by Councilman Granger. On roll call, resolution <br /> was unanimously adopted, ' <br /> R E 8 0 L. U�,T I 0 N No. 363-A <br /> RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO VAOATE UNUSED PORTION OF MIDDLEFIELD ROAD <br /> (FORMERLY PIEBSTER BTREET). <br /> �fHEREAS, more than thirty (30) years ago the City of Redwood City re- ; <br /> located that portion of Middlefield Road (formerly y6ebster 8treet) extend- ' <br /> ing from the northwesterly line of Jefferson Av.enue to a point where said <br /> etreet crosses a branch of the Redwood Creek and ever since said date the <br /> linea of said Middlefield Road have been located on the'ground as they are <br /> now situated; and <br /> 1YHEREA$, the -0ity Oouncil intended heretofore to vaoate the portion <br /> of Middlefield Road (formerly Webster 3treet) herein particul�.rly desc+ribed; <br /> RESOLVED that the Council declarea its intention to vacate and aban- <br /> don as a publ�c street all that real property being in the City of Redwood <br /> Cit� �ount� �£,San Mateo and bein a portion of Webster Street ae shown � <br /> on lia cer a ntmap entit�ed "l�ap o� the Property in Villa Lots of J.
