MINUTE ORDER <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETINQ <br />November 17, 1995 <br /> <br /> MO. 95-237 <br /> <br />CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br />Redwood City <br /> <br />DATE: November 21, 1995 <br /> <br />Attention: City Manager <br /> City Attorney <br /> Council <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Nominations and Election of Mayor for a two-year term (307) <br /> <br />Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on November 17, 1995. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmembers Buchan, Claire, Howard, La Berge, Leipzig, Ruskin <br /> and Mayor Hartnett <br /> <br />Absent: None <br /> <br />The following motion was made and entered on the Minutes: <br /> <br /> City Clerk Jorgenson called for nominations for the Office of Mayor of <br /> Redwood City. <br /> <br /> Councilman Ruskin nominated Councilman Harmett to the office of Mayor. <br /> Councilman Ruskin stated that there was no one amongst the Council better <br /> qualified to be the Mayor than Councilman Hartnett, that "he brings special <br /> qualities and skills and preparation that no one else could bring to the job. He <br /> has an integrity and decency as a person, a concern for the City; for the <br /> community, and the dedication and commitment that are second to none ..... He <br /> has a broad view of what it takes to have a great City, and a broad understanding <br /> of the issues and broad support in the community....He understands the <br /> importance of thriving business to the community, including the small business <br /> community, and how important it is to provide activities for youth and <br /> families ..... He understands the importance of providing proper facilities and <br /> activities for seniors, and good police and fire protection.....He understands how <br /> <br /> <br />
