6.2.A. - Page 4 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />ATTACHMENT 1 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON <br />OAK AVENUE AT ITS WEST MOST INTERSECTION WITH <br />CLINTON STREET <br />WHEREAS, Section 21354 of the California Vehicle Code allows local <br />authorities to designate any intersection under their exclusive jurisdiction as a <br />stop control intersection; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 26.07, of the City of Redwood City Policy and Guidelines for <br />Stop Signs on Residential Streets states: <br />The use of Yield or Stop signs should be considered at locations where <br />• The total volume on the major (busier) street approaches is at least 1,000 <br />vehicles per day, but not more than 4,000, and the total volume on the minor <br />street approaches is at least 900 vehicles per day, and at least one of the <br />following conditions exist; and <br />• When 3 or more accidents of types correctable by all -way stop control have <br />occurred at the intersection within a recent 12 -month period; for intersections <br />within 800 feet of a school (K -12), the threshold is 2 or more accidents, and <br />WHEREAS, City staff's investigation has confirmed the existence of this <br />condition at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Clinton Street, and that traffic <br />operations will benefit from the installation of three -way stop signs at the intersection of <br />Oak Avenue and Clinton Street. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 20.34 of the Redwood City Code, <br />the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause stop signs to be installed <br />and maintained on Oak Avenue at the west most intersection with Clinton Street. <br />ATTY /RESO.2159 /INSTALATION OF STOP SIGNS OAKAVENUE <br />083111 <br />
