7.A. - Page 4 <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING <br />BYRNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT FUNDS <br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Redwood City will hold a public <br />hearing on the application for $24,742 in federal grant funds. These funds are <br />awarded through the Byrne Justice Assistance Grants. The funds must be used <br />for front line law enforcement services; including personnel, equipment, and <br />programs necessary to meet police service needs within Redwood City. The City <br />Council will consider the application submitted by the Police Chief for the funds. <br />It will be the recommendation of the Police Chief that this year's award be <br />allocated to the purchase of police equipment, specifically for the replacement of <br />the duty sidearm issued to all sworn personnel. The replacement sidearm is a <br />more current model of the pistol that is presently issued and includes several <br />significant upgrades. <br />You are invited to comment on the proposed expenditure at a public hearing to <br />be held on the 12th day of September, 2011, beginning at 7:00 p.m. or soon <br />thereafter, at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City California. <br />Testimony must either be given in person at the time of the public hearing or <br />received, in writing, by the Police Department prior to the date of the hearing. <br />Testimony cannot be given over the phone. <br />If you have any questions, please contact Sergeant Ashley Osborne by <br />telephone at (650) 780 -7654. <br />
