09/12/2011 ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 15142 - RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON OAK AVENUE AT ITS WEST MOST INTERSECTION WITH CLINTON STREET WHEREAS, Section 21354 of the California Vehicle Code allows local authorities to designate any intersection under their exclusive jurisdiction as a stop control intersection; and WHEREAS, Section 26.07, of the Citv of Redwood Citv Policv and Guidelines for Stop Signs on Residential Streets, states: The use of Yie/d or Stop signs should be considered at locations where • The total vo/ume on the major (busier) street approaches is at least 1,000 vehicles per day, but not more than 4,000, and the total volume on the minor street approaches is at least 900 vehicles per day, and at least one of the following conditions exist,� and • When 3 or more accidents of types correctable by all-way stop control have occurred at the intersection within a recent 12-month period; for intersections within 800 feet of a school (K-12), the threshold is 2 or more accidents; and WHEREAS, City staffs investigation has confirmed the existence of this condition at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Clinton Street, and that traffic operations will benefit from the installation of three-way stop signs at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Clinton Street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 20.34 of the Redwood City Code, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause stop signs to be installed and maintained on Oak Avenue at the west most intersection with Clinton Street. . . .
