6.2.A. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> October 10, 2011 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance — Marshall Street Garage & Jefferson Underpass Repainting Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Accept, by motion, the Marshall Street Garage & Jefferson Underpass Repainting <br /> Project and authorize the release of bonds and retention according to city procedures <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On October 11, 2010, Council awarded the contract to Tony Painting of Garden Grove <br /> for the amount of $158,915.00 to repaint the Marshall Street Garage and the Jefferson <br /> Underpass walls, railings, street lights and bridge structure. The time to complete the <br /> repainting of the Jefferson Avenue Underpass was extended through the summer <br /> months due to unseasonably cool weather. <br /> The project is successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications <br /> for a total contract amount of $150,435.00, which is 5.3% less than the original bid <br /> amount. Two (2) change orders were issued. Change Order No. 1 extended the time <br /> for project completion at no additional cost. Change Order No. 2 was a credit of <br /> $8,480.00 for work that was not performed. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accept the project or not to authorize the release of bonds <br /> and retention, which would be contrary to the terms of the agreement and prior Council <br /> action. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Sufficient funding for the work of this contract was previously approved and <br /> appropriated as Capital Projects Fund— Civic Facilities Repainting Program. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br /> Not a project. <br /> � ,����--� <br /> BRIAN LEE, PE, CFM, <br /> SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER <br />
