7.A. - Page 2
The Street Vacation Act of 1941 authorizes the vacation of all or part of any city street,
by an order of City Council. The general vacation, once complete, will relinquish the
City's interest in the right-of-way and the right-of-way area will revert to the adjacent
owner, who appears to be Kaiser Permanente. The right- of-way proposed for vacation
is more particularly described in a legal description and plat map attached to this report
as exhibits to the proposed resolution.
Pursuant to the California Streets & Highway Code, Section 8320 et seq., the City
published and posted notice of this public hearing as required. Notices were published
in the Redwood Daily News on 11 /22/11, 11 /29/11, and 12/06/11. At least three notices
were conspicuously posted, no more than 300 feet apart, at the site of the proposed
vacation. Additionally, the City sent notices to owners of property within 300 feet of the
proposed vacation and owners of affected utilities (Exhibit B).
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to vacate a portion of Walnut Street and accept a dedication of
public utility easement.
FISCAL IMPACT
This action will not impose any additional financial responsibility on the City.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, the City of Redwood City has determined that the actions proposed
in this report do not constitute a project as defined by the California Environmental
Quality Act.
._
C_
`
PAUL WILLIS, PE
SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER
r
v ``'°`-
BILL EKERN
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

ROBERT B.
