The speaker provided free PAL T shirts for the <br /> Council Members. One Council Member suggested that the next fundraising event <br /> feature a bake off as opposed to the regular barbeque competition. <br /> Another Council Member provided information on the service for Sergeant Derek <br /> Simonetta at Sequoia High School which will take place Saturday, August 27, 2011 at <br /> 11 a.m. She also noted that the Second Annual Port Fest will be October 1 st from 11 <br /> a.m. to 5 p.m. and that the event will include activities for kids. <br /> Consent Calendar <br /> Item 6.4A was pulled by Mayor Ira for separate consideration (in order to formally <br /> introduce and allow for public comment). Item 6.1 E was pulled due to the fact that <br /> Council Member Foust would recuse herself. <br /> M/S Bain/Aguirre to approve the Consent Calendar, excluding item 6.1 E. Motion <br /> carries 7-0 by electronic vote. <br /> M/S Seybert/Gee to approve agenda item 6.1 E. Motion carries 6-0 by electronic <br /> vote with Council Member Foust recused. <br /> On agenda item 6.4 A(PERS contract amendment) Dr. Bell noted the need for this item <br /> to be a public hearing so that the public could comment and then introduce the <br /> ordinance with a public hearing and adoption to take place on September 12, 2011. He <br /> provided details about the change in benefits and what it means in regards to <br /> compensation, noting the difficulty in predicting the actual savings because these <br /> formulas are for re-hires. <br /> Mayor Ira asked for public comment. There was no public comment. <br /> M/S Bain/Seybert to close the public hearing. Motion carries unanimously by roll call <br /> vote. <br /> M/S Pierce/Gee for item 6.4.A.1.
