Jeff Rusteen related common incidents of dogs roaming off leash at Stulsaft Park. He
spoke about an incident where his dog was attacked and he reported this to the Police
Department which then referred him to animal control. He advocated for better
enforcement, update of the ordinance to increase the fines, and improved signage.
Council Member Bain clarified that we do have an ordinance that all dogs must be on
leash at City parks. City Manager Bell said staff would follow-up.
Agenda Item 6.1A
Vice Mayor Aguirre inquired about data and outcomes being measurable. Chris Beth,
Parks and Recreation Director, addressed this by stating that indeed there is data and
the School District and the City work collaboratively. She added that parent
participation is key and she looks forward to that information through the Redwood City
2020 presentation. Another Council Member added that she would like to have
"collective impacY' information and repercussions. She is looking forward to the
Redwood City 2020 presentation to Council and values the benefits of this partnership.
This Council Member also thanked the Housing and Human Concerns Committee and
staff for their hard work on this issue.
M/S Gee/Aguirre to adopt 6.1A.
