8. B. - Page 190
D. RESPONSE TO APPEAL FROM DIANA REDDY — LOCAL HOUSING
COMMITTEE, DECEMBER 20, 2011:
Comment D-1: The Redwood City Local Housing Cominittee respectfiilly requests that the recent
acceptance of the Final Environmental Impact Report, Planned Development Permit, Vesting
Tentative Map, and adoption of related dociments be appealed to the City Council. The Comnuttee
is concerned that flie Urban Housug Group development does not include hoisug at affordability
levels that meet the needs of the commtuity, ad, therefore, the project sholild not be considered a7
appropriate fit for Redwood City a1d its goals of creatulg an inclusive, thriving conununity. lii
addition, the location of the project site fiaither reinforces the need for hoLsing that seives a diverse
range of incomes as it sits directly on the El Canuno Corridor, which seives as a primary roLte for
SanlTrans bus seivices. Lower income residents depend on ready access to SamTras to travel to
work ad access services.
Ensuring some level of affordability is inclided in this project is also pa appropriate in this
neighborhood, which is primarily made Lp of worling fanulies. The average auual income of
Redwood City residents is approximately $8,000 less than the county media, ald the neighborhoods
surrounding this development are definitely representative of that statistic. This development does
not provide a single Lulit of hoLsing for the inajority of people who live and work in Redwood City,
ucluding people who work for the City!
Thank yoL for your consideration of this appeal request.
Resuonse D-1: Tlus is not a conunent on the Final EIR, bit rather is a comment on the
natire and affordability of the project itself.
2580 El Cainino Real Residenrial Project 22 Response to Conmients Receied on Final EIR
Cin of Redood Cin Jannai 2012
