6 R ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR CITY <br />coUl lCIL/ .l VELOP l NT AGENCY BOARD. <br />Mike Giari, Port Executive [director, reported that a Foster Ceremony took place at the <br />foyer of City Hall last Friday. He said that the Woodside Hills Christian Academy was one <br />of the honorees. Mr. Giari also announced other upcoming events that will take place at <br />the Port of Redwood City. <br />Mayor Foust said she had been in attendance with Council Member Pierce and she was <br />pleased with the turnout and the selection process. She spoke about how much the <br />children benefitted from this contest. <br />Jason lip addressed the council regarding toys, food and items that are produced in <br />China. He made comments about the Chinese government Mr. Yip shared his support for <br />the organizations opposing that country's administration and he encouraged others to <br />voice opposition. <br />MOTION: w aive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, adopt <br />the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. <br />6.1 Section — Motions <br />A. Purchase of Automatic Remote Meter Reading Equipment. <br />Recommendation: <br />1. Authorize by motion the purchase of automatic remote meter reading <br />equipment from Senses Metering Systems for an amount not to exceed four <br />hundred tern thousand dollars ($410,000). <br />2. waive the bidding requirements of the City of Redwood City Code, in <br />accordance with Chapter 2 Article 7, Section 2.76 by affirmative vote of at <br />least five members of the City Council on the grounds that strict compliance <br />with the bidding requirements would not serve the public interest.
