6.1.A. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> March 5, 2012 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Amendment Number One to the Agreement for 2010-2011 Annual Services for <br /> Comprehensive Street Tree Maintenance <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> By motion, approve issuance of Amendment Number One to the Agreement for <br /> Comprehensive Street Tree Maintenance Services with The Professional Tree Care <br /> Company, of Berkeley, CA in the amount of $190,000.00 <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On November 18, 2010 a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Annual Services for <br /> Comprehensive Street Tree Maintenance was released. Four (4) proposals were <br /> received. The firm of The Professional Tree Care Company, of Berkeley, CA was <br /> recommended and an Agreement was approved by the City Council on January 24, <br /> 2011. As part of the action taken by the City Council, the City Manager was authorized <br /> to execute up to two (2) consecutive one-year extensions of the Agreement not to <br /> exceed $230,000 per year. (MO. 11-007) <br /> Language in the RFP stated that prices may be increased up to 5% from the preceding <br /> year based on approval by the City. The contractor has requested an increase of only <br /> 2.9% in accordance with recent relative fluctuations in the Consumer Price Index. The <br /> rates listed in Exhibit A reflect the 2.9% increase. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> Staff has worked with The Professional Tree Care Company for several years and is <br /> confident in their continued ability to satisfy the terms of the Agreement and provide <br /> quality tree maintenance services throughout the community. The Professional Tree <br /> Care Company continues to be timely and responsive to staff's direction and requests. <br /> The company understands the City's urban forestry goals and works collaboratively with <br /> staff to assure that all work on City trees is not only professionally done, but safely <br /> done. <br />
