6.13-1
October 27, 2003
Subject
Amendment No. 1 to Agreement for Demolition, Utility Relocation, and Reimbursement
for Underground Public Parking Facility
Recommendation
Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Demolition, Utility Relocation, and
Reimbursement for the Underground Public Parking Facility, for additional work relating
to utility relocation, in the not to exceed amount of $150,000.
Background
On August 21, 2003, the City /Agency approved an agreement with BHV Innisfree
Ventures 1, LLC to demolish buildings and relocate utilities for the construction of the
underground public parking facility. In order to facilitate the relocation of communication
and electrical lines, Redwood City (through BHV Innisfree Ventures 1, LLC), had
agreed to the construction of a "joint trench." The design had been prepared by the
City's consultant, but not officially approved by each of the utility companies. Changes
to vault locations, the number of vaults, and size of vaults have increased, adding to the
cost of improvements.
Alternatives
This is the only feasible alignment that removes the utilities from the location of the
parking structure.
Fiscal Impacts
There is money available in the Redevelopment Bond Contingency fund to cover these
costs. Discussions are underway with each of the utilities regarding reimbursement for
this work, as allowed by existing agreements. Once the project is completed and
reimbursements for the demolition collected, there may be money added back into the
contingency fund.
erson Susan Moe er Adv
, Engineering & Construction Redevelopment Manager City Manager
JP.
s7ibraryloel/council reporWRemibursement Agreement-Amentment No. 1_,parking facility
-1-
