F. - Page 13 and Committees' Handbook <br />➢ Appointed Boards, Commissions, and Committees <br />I City of Redwood City <br />• Board of Building Review (consists of five members, four -year term) <br />The Board of Building Review, established by Ordinance 1381, consists of five members, <br />appointed by the City Co4ar,cil for terms of four years. This is a quasi - judicial body due to some <br />appeal re, ;rl onsibilities. The basic duties and responsibilities of the Board are as follows: <br />• NElview and update the City's building regulatory codes, including suggested <br />local amendments and provide recommendations to City Council pertinent to the <br />adoption of suclh codes (Section 2.124, City Code); <br />• Determ r,E: tl e suitability of alternate materials and types of construction with <br />respect to the requirements of Chapter 9 of the City Code (Section 2.125); and, <br />• Hear appeals of persons denied a building permit, inspection approval, or <br />certificate of occupancy for the reason that the material or type of construction <br />intended for use is not deemed to be in compliance with Chapter 9 of the City <br />Code. <br />The Board meets on the call of the chairperson usually at the request of Building and Inspection <br />Division. <br />10 <br />
