May act on behalf of the Fire Chief, including testifying in court regarding fire <br />code issues, when assigned. <br />14. May represent the Fire Department on various national, state and regional <br />committees; attends functions relating to fire, life safety and the fire code. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles, practices, and techniques of fire prevention. <br />Principles and practices of employee supervision, training and evaluation <br />Department budget preparation and techniques <br />Federal, State and Local fire prevention codes and ordinances. <br />Principles and techniques of building inspection work. <br />City Fire Department policies and procedures. <br />Practices, procedures, and equipment used in fire investigations, including <br />the ability to recognize and collect evidence. <br />Procedures and techniques and equipment such as fire extinguishers, <br />sprinkler systems, and alarm systems. <br />Ability to: <br />Apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques and detect <br />deviations from plans, regulations and standard safety practices. <br />Plan, assign, coordinate and manage the functions and activities of assigned <br />areas <br />Supervise, train, and develop employees effectively <br />Coordinate activities of staff assigned including predominance evaluation or <br />recommendation or actions to superiors <br />Develop effective fire prevention programs <br />
