ATTACHMENT #2 7.A. - Page 5
CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CITIZENS OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY
(COPS) FUNDS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Redwood City will hold a public
hearing on the expenditure of up to $125,578 in state grant funds. These funds
were awarded through the Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) program.
The funds must be used for front line law enforcement services; including
personnel, equipment, and programs necessary to meet police service needs
within Redwood City. The City Council will consider written requests submitted by
the Police Chief for the expenditure of funds received.
It is the Police Chief's recommendation that this grant funding be allocated for the
purchase of police equipment (including handgun lights and holsters, portable
audio surveillance equipment, mobile fingerprint readers, portable robbery and
burglary alarms, technological equipment, and police tactical equipment) and
police training.
You are invited to comment on the proposed expenditure at a public hearing to
be held on the 19 day of March, 2012, beginning at 7:00 p.m. or soon
thereafter, at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City California.
Testimony must either be given in person at the time of the public hearing or
received, in writing, by the Police Department prior to the date of the hearing.
Testimony cannot be given over the phone.
If you have any questions, please contact Sergeant Steve Blanc by telephone at
(650) 780 -7143.
