03/19/2012 � <br /> ORIGINAL ` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15178 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REWOOD CITY <br /> AUTHORIZING THE POLICE CHIEF TO EXPEND $125,578.00 OF <br /> COPS/SLEF FUNDS IN FISCAL YEAR 2011-2012 <br /> WHEREAS, the Redwood City Police Department has received a State Citizens <br /> Option for Public Safety/Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Funds (COPS/SLEF) <br /> grant in the amount of $125,578; and <br /> WHEREAS, grant funds must be used to supplement existing services and may <br /> not be used to supplant any existing funding for law enforcement services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Council finds that the proposed expenditures will be for <br /> supplemental police equipment as authorized by the grant, and will not supplant existing <br /> funding; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Chief of Police that this grant funding <br /> be allocated for the purchase of police equipment (including handgun lights and <br /> holsters, portable audio surveillance equipment, mobile fingerprint readers, portable <br /> robbery and burglary alarms, technological equipment, and police tactical equipment) <br /> and police training; and <br /> WHEREAS, on March 19, 2012, the City Council held a public hearing to <br /> consider the expenditure of COPS/SLEF grant funds in the amount of $125, 578.00 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> The Police Chief is authorized to expend $125,578.00 of COPS/SLEF funds for the <br /> purchase of police equipment (including handgun lights and holsters, portable audio <br /> surveillance equipment, mobile fingerprint readers, portable robbery and burglary <br /> alarms, technological equipment, and police tactical equipment) and police training. <br /> . . . <br /> ATTY/RES02210/AUTHORIZE POLICE CHIEF TO EXPEND COPS/SLEF FUNDS IN FISCAL YEAR 11-12 RESO. # 15178 <br /> REV:02-29-12 MUFF # 505 <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br />
