ATTACHMENT-2: DEFINITIONS OF MAINTENANCE SERVICES 6.3.A. - Page 9 <br /> EXCERPT FROM ORIGINALAGREEMENT FOR MAINTENANCE <br /> OF STATE HIGHWAYS IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> Effective: July 1, 2001 <br /> VII. A new Exhibit A, DELEGATION OF MAINTENANCE, will be provided annually by the <br /> STATE for the ensuing fiscal year if necessary, to ensure an equitable annual cost allocation. <br /> A brief description of maintenance functions delegated to the CITY are identified by the <br /> Caltrans HM Program Codes as follows: <br /> HM2C SLOPES/VEGETATION <br /> This provides for repairing curbs, sidewalks and other appurtenances between the roadbed <br /> and the outer highway right-of-way boundary line. It also includes weed and brush control <br /> and trimming and removal of trees. The following areas are included: <br /> 1. Sidewalks <br /> The CITY shall follow the same policy and procedure generally practiced by requiring <br /> repairs and control of vegetation to be made by or at the expense of abutting owners, who <br /> are under legal obligation to perform such work. <br /> *CITY STAFF EXPLANATION: Any work performed on sidewalks by City forces or contractors are <br /> not reimbursed to the City, including handicap ramps. <br /> HM2D LITTER/DEBRIS <br /> This provides for removal of litter and debris from roadway surfaces and roadsides. The <br /> following problems are included: <br /> 1. Debris/carcass pickup <br /> 2. Sweeping <br /> 3. Litter pickup <br /> 4. Spills of non-toxic substances <br /> *CITY STAFF EXPLANATION: City does provide street sweeping along curbed miles for both <br /> State Highways. Curbed miles is defined to include the outside curb and gutter, as well as the <br /> inside curb along the inside roadway medians. <br /> HM2E LANDSCAPING <br /> This provides for watering, fertilizing, removal of shrubs and control of Weeds in planted <br /> areas. Includes trimming, removal and spraying of trees, Replacement of plants, shrubs <br /> and trees, and pest control in planted areas. The following problems are included: <br /> 1. Weed control <br /> 2. Pruning/ thinning/ removing/ replacing <br /> 3. Irrigation <br /> *CITY STAFF EXPLANATION: Under the existing Agreement, the City is not reimbursed for <br /> landscape maintenance costs. However, the Amendment to the Agreement allows for <br /> reimbursement of these costs for the new segment of roadway, from Cypress Street to the <br /> Westside of Broadway Street. The reimbursement amount is $18,000 <br /> HM4K ELECTRICAL <br /> This includes maintenance work performed on highway electrical facilities including <br /> electrical energy. <br />
