City Council Member(s) Report(s) of Conference/Meeting Attendance <br /> B. City Council Members Oral Reports of Conferences/Meetings Attended <br /> -Mayor Aguirre noted that when Council Members attend regional meetings they should <br /> feel free to report out. <br /> -Council Member Bain met with the Red Cross and since there was great interest in <br /> getting involved with the community he got them connected with the Chamber of <br /> Commerce. He also noted that he got a letter from the City regarding the new <br /> Corrective Action Plan and one resident was very upset. This Council Member would <br /> like the Utilities Commission to review this matter. <br /> -Vice Mayor Gee said that in regards to the SamTrans presentation for May, the goal is <br /> to have this organization live within its means. As the Council Member serving on that <br /> committee he wants the public to know that. He also highlighted two programs funded <br /> by Metropolitan Transportation Commission they are: the "Last Mile Connection" and <br /> "Catch your Ride Let's Roll San Mateo County". Vice Mayor Gee provided details about <br /> each of the programs. <br /> -Council Member Pierce attended the 10t" Clergy Network Anniversary and also the <br /> Realignment event she attended with Captain Ed Hernandez. She invited her <br /> colleagues to an upcoming Council of Cities dinner at Michael's, in Mountain View. <br /> -Mayor Aguirre noted that this week the Council will be hosting an orientation for new <br /> Boards, Commissions and Committees, and hosting a Sustainable Silicon Valley Water <br /> Awards Event. Mayor Aguirre attended a Building Livable Communities conference and <br /> she noted that the perspectives that came out of this event included partnering with the <br /> private sector, multi-generational housing, economic development and she opined that <br /> these items were timely and things we are already doing in Redwood City. <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> City Manager Bell said he wanted to set the record straight on the Saltworks issue. He <br /> added that if there are questions Council Member Foust might have to recuse herself <br /> from the matter. Mr. Bell wanted to reassure the public and Council that the City retains <br /> control of who gets hired to do the Environmental Impact Report for the Saltworks <br /> P roj ect. <br /> 10.
