6.2.B. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> May 7, 2012 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance of the work done during Amendment Two of the 2009-2010 Cost <br /> Shared Sidewalk Repair Project <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Accept by motion the 2009-2010 Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair Project Amendment Two <br /> and authorize the release of bonds and the retention according to City procedure. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On July 27, 2009, the City awarded the 2009-2010 Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair <br /> contract in the amount of $241,025 to SpenCon Construction Inc., of Danville, CA. (MO. <br /> 09-154). The original agreement included the option for four extensions using relevant <br /> fluctuations in the Construction Cost Index for the San Francisco Bay Area in the <br /> Engineering News Record to adjust bid item values. Amendment Number One was <br /> approved by the Council in the amount of $244,230 on September 27, 2010 (MO. 10- <br /> 183) and Amendment Number Two was approved by the Council in the amount of <br /> $140,000 on August 22, 2011 (MO. 11-138), for a total contract of $625,255. <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The project is complete in accordance with the Agreement, the plans and specifications, <br /> and to the satisfaction of City staff. Therefore staff recommends that the City Council <br /> accept the improvements, release retention in the amount of $14,872.49, and release <br /> the performance bond and labor and material bond. <br /> The work completed during Amendment Two included installation of 10 ADA curb <br /> ramps at various intersections including Oak Knoll Drive and Canyon Road; Redwood <br /> Avenue and Addison Street; Harrison Street and Myrtle Avenue, and replacement of <br /> sidewalk, curb and gutter and driveway areas at various locations throughout the city. <br /> Work was performed at many individual sites throughout the City, such as on Redwood <br /> Shores Parkway in Redwood Shores, on Virginia Avenue in the Woodside Plaza <br /> neighborhood, on Edgewood Road in the Oak Knoll / Edgewood Park neighborhood, on <br /> Willow Street in the Redwood Village neighborhood and on McKinley Street in the <br /> Roosevelt neighborhood. <br /> As a part of the Council action approving Amendment 2, the City Manager was <br /> authorized to increase the contract amount for Amendment Two, if necessary, up to <br /> 10% of the amount awarded, or $14,000.00. The final cost of work done through <br /> Amendment 2 was $148,725, which is within the City Manager's authorized limits. <br />
