Exhibit "A" <br /> <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR <br /> <br />Under the general direction of a Division Head, this position plans, organizes, directs and <br />reviews the activities of an assigned section (Water System Maintenance, Storm Drains <br />Maintenance, Sanitary Sewer Maintenance, Customer & Support Services, Streets & Parking <br />Lots Maintenance, Street Cleaning, Traffic Control Maintenance, Sidewalk Maintenance & <br />Repair or Street Tree Maintenance) In the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Division, the <br />Right-Of-Way Maintenance Division or the Administrative Support Division of the General <br />Services Department; to supervise assigned crews; to perform technically complex maintenance <br />duties to respond to citizens needs and Inquiries; and to provide responsible and technical staff <br />assistance. <br /> <br />~iUpERVlSlON RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> <br />General direction Is provided by the Division Head. <br /> <br />Responsibilities include direct and indirect supervision of pemonnel in an assigned section. <br />EXAMPLE$ OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />Duties may InclUde, but are not limited to, the following: <br /> <br />1. Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the <br /> division and assigned section. <br /> <br />2. Plan, direct, coordinate, supervise and review the work of crews in widely scattered locations <br /> engaged in water, street, tree, sanitary and storm sewer maintenance, repair, installation and <br /> construction. <br /> <br />3. Prepare requisitions for necessary equipment, matedal and supplies; assist in preparing <br /> equipment specifications. <br /> <br />4. Maintain time and materials record: prepare work reports and cost records. <br /> <br />5. Supervise, train and instruct subordinates. <br /> <br />6. Recommend and enforce safety requirements. <br /> <br />7. Investigate complaints and suggest corrective actions; study maintenance functions and <br /> recommend Improvements; process and answer claims. <br /> <br />8. Interview subordinates at various phases of work and give them specific support; disouss <br /> work progress and ascertain the amount of materials and supplies needed. <br /> <br /> g. Prepare budget estimates and other requested reports. <br /> <br /> 10. Evaluate subor~llnates' work performance end prepare required reports. <br /> <br /> 1 t. Complete and maintain a variety of reoords and reports. <br /> <br /> 12. Inspect project sites to evaluate work process and quality; resolve work problems; determine <br /> additional needs; assure continuous support and follow-up. <br /> <br /> <br />
