The original agreement includes the option for four (4) extensions using
relevant fluctuations in the Construction Cost Index for the San Francisco Bay Area as
listed in the Engineering News Record to adjust bid item amounts by a maximum of five
percent. On September 27, 2010 the City Council authorized execution of Amendment
Number 1 to the Agreement in the amount of $244,230. On August 22, 2011, the City
Council authorized execution of Amendment Number 2 to the Agreement in the amount
of $140,000. If this Amendment is approved, the aggregate total of the original
Agreement and the three subsequent Amendments will be $775,255.
ANALYSIS
The work to be done during Amendment Number 3 will be of the same nature as the
work done during the terms of the initial Agreement and subsequent Amendments.
Repairs will be made to various sidewalks, curbs and gutters throughout the city and
ADA curb ramps will be constructed at street corners when sidewalk work is being
performed at corner properties. Each project under this contract is unique because staff
works with the adjoining property owner for funding and coordination. These projects
can occur anywhere in the city.
After reviewing the Construction Cost Index as listed in the Engineering News Record
for the San Francisco area, Amendment Number Three will increase the bid item
amounts by 1.8% above the prices listed in Amendment Two.
Due to a change in the City's Standard Detail for construction of ADA Curb Ramps, to
be compliant with Caltrans specifications, the City requires additional truncated domes
