6.3.A. - Page 1
RE PO RT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the Cit Mana er
June 11, 2012
SUBJECT
Set Public Hearing for Adopting Fiscal Year 2012-13 Budget
RECOMMENDATION
Approve, by resolution, the date of June 25, 2012 for the public hearing and formal
action on the budget for FY 2012-13.
BACKGROUND
Section 51.5 of the Redwood City Charter requires that the City Council establish, by
resolution, the date for the budget public hearing and the budget resolution adoption. It
is recommended that this public hearing along with the adoption of the budget resolution
take place on June 25, 2012.
ALTERNATIVES
Section 51.5 of the City Charter requires that the Council establish, by resolution, a date
upon which the budget resolution shall be presented and a public hearing held. The
above date was approved in concept at the February 27, 2012 Council meeting. It is,
however, the Council's prerogative to select the date they believe is the most
appropriate.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this recommendation. Adopting the FY
2012-13 budget without setting a public hearing would not be in compliance with the
City Charter.

 `-
BRIAN PONTY
FINANCE DIRECTOR
  `
ROBERT B. BELL
CITY MANAGER
