CONGESTION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM/ <br /> COUNTYWIDE TRANSPORTATION PLAN <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br /> To develop a consensus on countywide transportation issues and to manage <br /> congestion to allow for orderly economic growth in San Mateo County. <br /> To educate and broaden the professional staff and elected officials such that their <br /> local decisions will benefit the county as a whole. <br /> · To collectively develop local and countywide transportation plans to minimize <br /> congestion. <br /> · To provide information to local agencies on the cumulative impact of local <br /> decisions <br /> · To relate land use and transportation decisions. <br /> · To maximize transportation funding for San Mateo County projects. <br /> <br />BENEFITS: <br /> <br /> · Promotes countywide transportation planning among all agencies. <br /> · Involvement of elected officials and staff technical professionals will broaden <br /> their view such that individual decisions are more beneficial to all agencies in the <br /> region. <br /> · Better information is available to individual agencies to make land use decisions <br /> that will benefit congestion management. <br /> <br />C/CAG BOARD ROLE: <br /> <br /> · Establish vision and long-term (twenty year) goals for resolving mobility and <br /> congestion issues in San Mateo County. <br /> · Program State and Federal funding to implement the vision and long-term goals. <br /> <br /> <br />
