T A <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2003 DECLARING THE <br />RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW <br />WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the <br />City of Redwood City, California, on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, as required by <br />law; and <br />WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in time, form and manner as <br />provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election <br />officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and <br />conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns <br />made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the <br />Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general <br />law and charter cities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 14533, adopted June 30, 2003, <br />the County Election Department canvassed the returns of the election and has <br />certified results to this City Council, the results are received, attached and made <br />a part hereof as "Exhibit A." <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. That the whole number of ballots cast in the precincts, <br />except absent voter ballots, was 4,163. That the whole number of absent voter <br />ballots cast in the City was 3,936, making a total of 8,099 ballots cast in the City. <br />SECTION 2. That the names of persons voted for at the election for <br />Member of the City Council are as follows: Ian Bain, Rosanne Foust, Rudy Luca, <br />David L. Newgard, Barbara Pierce, Ira Ruskin and Paul Sanfilipo. That the <br />measures voted upon at the election are as follows: Measure "F" — Should <br />Section 32.75 of the Municipal Code of the City of Redwood City be amended to <br />increase the uniform transient occupancy tax by 2 % ?; and Measure "G" — Shall <br />specified sections of the City Charter be amended to update amounts requiring <br />public bid procedures for public works contracts, to conform the City's tort claim <br />procedures to state law, to give the City flexibility in selecting its official <br />advertiser, to restrict appointed board and commission members from interfering <br />in the administration and management of city departments, and to set the <br />maximum payment period of bonds at thirty -five (35) years? <br />F: Atty /R eso /R eso.1440 <br />112003 <br />
