Placing a locked and fenced cammunity in the middle of our street reminds us of defensive gated compaunds in ravaged places like Afghanistan. It's tantamount ta saying "`We are fearful of our safety here". Is this the message the city wishes ta model?A gated community an Finger Aven�e is a chilling comment on where the city feels it has to ga. This is even warse than the sort of development our family escaped in 2009.Although it may be legal, is it visionary? Is it aesthetic or campatible with our �eighborhood?We say it is not. In conclusion,the McGowan Nine Lot Finger Avenue development has no justification in its current form, and it is painfully evident that the develaper has no intentian of mediating with the community most affected by his intentfons. Eight years of effart ta arrive at some sort of mutually beneficial modi�cation have l�een to no avail. As laypeople and cammunity members,we truly look to yau for your leadership and professional experience ta maintain the standards we as a community have set for ourselves, in respect to zoning laws, creek set backs, width of streets, and aesthetics. We need yaur support to have any chance of a mutually beneficial autcome. Therefore we a) urge you with all aur heart to advise the City Cauncil not to approve this plan in its current form, so we can advance to a mut�rally beneficia� conclusion. Please think about the 3-drmensional fmplications of the praposal, arrd its visua!and aesthetic impac� Please thrnk about mass,scale and lot size. i�) ask the Planning Commissiar�to focus fln tha indisputable fact that McGowan has no intrinsic right to summarily decide that he can build nine houses on a �ot zoned for four. He has no intrinsic right to make such unilateral decisions and call this 'A Planned Development' sa that he can build nine homes without presenting a c�ear concept oF its benefit or purpose. The current situation fs unfathomable. Nine homes means an untenable number of exemprions have to be granted to Iaws that were put rn place ta protect our ertvironrnent and homes. lt just doesn't make sense. We look farward to yaur reply and hope for your support.We are eager to support a plan which will bring more families inta aur neigh�arhaad,while preserving sidewalks, a modest amount of garden area, creel�setbacks and fire codes.
