What is important aesthetip�ly abaut my neighbarhaqd Is the semi-rural character oFthe north side of Finger Avenue,with rnany homes sat far back from the street.The appearance of Iarge amounts af open space w�kh mature,old growth trees,provides a striking hac3cdrop to the homes.The cantrast between the norkh stde of Finger Avenue and its soutt�side,w�th tts many quaint,early 2Qth century hungalows and cottages,is something t�at's unique to Redwood City and treasured by its residents. Examples oFhow the Finger A►►enue Pro;ect signif cantly degrades the aestheties oFaur neighborhood are: • Canstructian of twa horrtes with wide two-story facades set ba ck the menimum allowable distance frorn the street,There are no hauses that large set that close to Che street anywhere in our neighborhaod. • Nowhere else on Finger Avenue are l�omes this]arge placed on lots this sma�l, • All ofthe homes are aFsimilar size and all two-story,as oppased ta the mix oFhome s#zes and heights that are representative af the north side of FingerAve�ue. • Mnst of these nine homes will be viewable From the publtc straet,T}�ere is little open space and the harnes are only set back a small distance from the narrow that serves them(some fram 3ft�6R fra�n the al�eyway,) Nowhere in our neighborhood are houses situated in this fashian. � A develoPrnent this det�sely packed is incompatible with the presence oF large rnature trees on the site.The eaentual lass af these trees will be irreversible, + The breakup of the narth sfde oF Finger A�e.by creattng two new fntersections.The narrow alleyway built for the developrnent fafls to itategrate with Ftinger Avenue by not havin�a sidewalk ar planting strfp agait�st the roadway, • The one-way aileyway wlll requfre street signs on Finger Ave t4 direct traffic, furtl�er compramising the character of the narth side of the street.
