G I C <br />December 1, 2003 <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance — 2002 -2003 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project <br />Engineering File No. 806 -02 <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the 2002 -2003 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, and authorize the release of <br />payment bond and retention. <br />Background <br />As part of the continuous Roadway Improvement Program, approximately 175,000 <br />square yards of roadway was resurfaced with Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal. <br />On July 14, 2003, the City Council awarded the construction contract for 2002 -2003 <br />Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project to Western States Surfacing, Inc. of Modesto, <br />California, for their low bid of $498,954.68. <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications. One change order was issued in the amount of $20,266.40 (represents <br />4% of the original bid price) for a total project cost of $519,221.08. This change order <br />was for the adjustment of quantities.
