Presentation: Firefighters Trip to Colima — Justin Velasquez, Fire <br /> Fighter/Engineer, Marc Bernall, Fire Fighter/Engineer, Ernesto <br /> Marin, Firefighter/Engineer/Paramedic and Paul Sherwood, <br /> Firefighter/Engineer/Paramedic <br /> Vice Mayor Aguirre introduced the item and explained the relationship between these two <br /> cities. She thanked the Redwood City International members in the audience who are part <br /> of this endeavor of bringing these finro communities together. Ernesto Marin addressed the <br /> Council and explained how the Colima firefighters are always appreciative of what is given <br /> to them (movie on file). They also visited an orphanage and that was a moving experience <br /> for one of the firefighters. Three other firefighters gave testimonies of their visit. They also <br /> spoke about the bilingual program that the Fire Department runs and how useful this is to <br /> the community. Mayor Ira thanked the firefighters and said that this was very inspiring. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> MOTION: Waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, adopt <br /> the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. <br /> David McCallum, representing the Redwood Creek Floating Community Association, spoke <br /> about a clean-up that took place in February with about 100 people helping out. This <br /> included people from the Port of Redwood City and the Sea Scouts. He said he would like <br /> to start a nonprofit and purchase "booms" to help with garbage clean up and asked anyone <br /> interested to please contact him. <br /> M/S Foust/Aguirre to approve the Consent Calendar with Council Member Foust abstaining <br /> on the minutes for February 1, 2010 since she was absent. Motion passes unanimously <br /> by electronic vote. <br /> 6.1 Section - Motions <br /> A. Approve the Regular/Study Session City Council meeting minutes of February 1, <br /> 2010 and the Regular City Council meeting minutes of February 8, 2010 as <br /> submitted.
