He is happy that this was done and said the process will provide a vision for this <br /> parcel. He wants to know what the community thinks and he invites its participation. He <br /> opined that the Council is choosing to review this project because, at the end of the day, it <br /> is the Council that will solidify the vision. He welcomes a vigorous debate. Another <br /> Council Member wants participation and he believes there is a responsibility on the part of <br /> the community to get sufficient information to make a decision. He asks that those who <br /> already got to a decision to refrain for those who are still working towards a decision. <br /> Another Council Member explained that a public process is not just Council meetings. <br /> She believes that this is a true process with a lot of integrity and vision. She appreciated <br /> tonight's dignity and civility and the quality of both staff members and the consultant. She <br /> would like a number of alternatives that include addressing the flood issues. She thanked <br /> all who got involved and are willing to have a voice and be stakeholders of this process. <br /> Vice Mayor Aguirre asked people to get involved and influence change. She wants the <br /> people from this community to feel heard and get involved in shaping this process. Mayor <br /> Ira acknowledged there is mistrust and he hopes that the introduction of the consultants <br /> will rebuild trust. He would like people to get involved, and know the process and be part <br /> of the solution. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> 1. Receive an informational briefing and update on the Saltworks project, no <br /> action required. <br /> 2. Approve the following amendments to professional services agreements for the <br /> purpose of continuing the environmental review process associated with the <br /> Salfinrorks project: <br /> a. Approve, by motion, Amendment No. 3 to the professional services <br /> agreement with Data Instincts for the review of the Saltworks development <br /> proposal in an amount not to exceed $180,000. <br /> M/S Pierce/Bain to approve agenda item 7.A.2.a.
