5. SPECIAL ORDER OF THE DAY <br /> A. Swearing in of Planning Commissioners <br /> City Clerk Silvia Vonderlinden swore in Nancy Radcliffe. Commissioner Tabing was <br /> away on a business trip. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Keith Batista, representing the Chamber of Commerce, announced the upcoming <br /> Progress Seminar in April 2011. The lead organizers of this event are Council Member <br /> Foust and County Supervisor Richard Gordon. <br /> Mr. Marc Warsowe addressed the Council and requested a continuance of his appeal that <br /> will be before Council on November 22, 2010. He said that it is very hard to get people <br /> and experts available with such short notice. He cannot anticipate any ill consequences to <br /> postponing it to February 21, 2011 and that was what he requested of Council. <br /> Mayor Ira said that he would review the matter with the City Manager. City Attorney <br /> Thompson explained the circumstances around the needs of the appellant and the <br /> applicant, and how the date was set taking both sides in consideration. Mr. Warsowe <br /> interjected and made additional comments. <br /> Janet Borgens invited the Council to the first annual turkey carving contest. This will take <br /> place on November 24, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> CITY COUNCIL/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARD ACTION: Waive reading of the <br /> consent calendar and the full text of ordinances and resolutions, and approve the Consent <br /> Calendar items. <br /> M/S FoustJGee to move approval of the Consent Calendar excluding agenda item 6.2A. <br /> Council Member Foust reported that today there was a special meeting of the Bay Area <br /> Economic Institute at the Redwood Shores Library and all the attendees (academia, <br /> business people and elected officials) were so impressed with the site. She specifically <br /> thanked Liz Meeks, Library Services Supervisor, and Paul Dunning, Building Attendant, <br /> for providing staff support during the event. Motion carried unanimously by roll call <br /> vote. <br /> Vice Mayor Aguirre left the dais and the Chambers. <br /> M/S Gee/Bain to approve Consent Calendar item 6.2A.
