Another Council Member/ad hoc committee member spoke on the need for an EIR
(Environmental Impact Report) to address as many options as possible for a potential
station. He also spoke about proactively asserting what is best for Redwood City and
the need to share and leverage resources, knowledge, and speaking together "as a
choir" with other Peninsula cities rather than just one voice (city). A different Council
Member/ad hoc committee member said there has been a lot of discussion and
movement within the High Speed Rail Authority and she recommended taking a longer,
slower approach to look at what has been accomplished and continue to push for more
answers.
Mayor Ira thanked the three Council Members for their work in serving on the High
Speed Rail Council ad hoc committee: Foust, Gee, and Pierce.
8. Council Member Pierce added her thanks to the Downtown
Business Group as the ones who really put it on, paid for the fireworks, organized the
holiday tree contest in downtown store windows, and she invited everyone to vote for
their favorite trees. She acknowledged the work done by Keith and Nina Kadera and for
working closely with staff to get things done.
9.
