Goa13:Staff Training:CITY will arrange training for coaches employed by CITY. The year-round training of <br /> coaches takes place during a mandatory Back to School, Mid-Year,and Homestretch training sessions <br /> and other training sessions as necessary. PRCS coaching staff will be trained under the umbrella of the <br /> "Physical Education Team."All staff will be trained with the objective to reinforce to students the joy of <br /> being active and healthy,while delivering an exceptional physical education program that meets the <br /> Califomia State requirements for PE. Coaches may be pulled from recess support if necessary to attend <br /> training one hour per week. Training sessions will focus on three different areas: <br /> 1. Community&leadership development <br /> 2. Teaching methods <br /> 3. Program cumculum <br /> Goa14:PE+Curriculum Developmenf and Implemenfafion:The PE+program for RCSD schools will be designed <br /> to ensure that the social,emotional, physical,and leaming needs of the students are being met during <br /> their time in PE. The program will provide students with the knowledge,attitudes,motor skills, behavioral <br /> skills, and confidence to pa�icipate in physical activity and aims to establish active lifestyles among <br /> students that continue into and throughout their adult lives. Physical activity is promoted through providing <br /> a physical and social environment that enables safe and enjoyable participation in physical activity <br /> through a planned and developmentally appropriate physical education and nutrition education curricula <br /> and instruction that meets the PE standards from kindergarten through 5th grade. <br /> Goal 5:Program Evaluation:SHD Program PE+Program Manager will consult with staff from Applied Survey <br /> Research (ASR)for analysis and further development of evaluation plan and assessment tools.All <br /> partners from SDH, CITY, PCC,and RCSD will work together implement assessments,surveys,data <br /> collection, and data entry.Quantitative and qualitative data will be used to measure program quality, <br /> outcomes, and impact. Information and best practices will be shared with stakeholders and used to make <br /> necessary program modifications and to cultivate and expand the program. <br /> Goa16:Outcomes and Sustainabilit�r. The PE+Program will identify desired student outcomes in the areas of <br /> physical fitness,social-emotional well-being,leaming needs,and nutrition and health. PE+will also <br /> identify coach,teacher,and administrator,and partnership outcomes. The program is designed to ensure <br /> positive changes and outcomes are sustained. <br /> Goa17:Program Growth:PE+partners will continue to seek financial contributions from school sites and <br /> additional revenue sources and seek to expand the PE+program into additional schools and venues <br /> provided additional resources are obtained. <br /> V.Staffing Plan and Employee Contracts <br /> CITY will maintain a PE Coordinator and approximately 12 coaching staff with the funds provided by SHD through <br /> this agreement. CITY will ensure that all coaches are LiveScan fingerprinted, and TB-tested,subject to the final <br /> approval of RCSD to work on school grounds. Coaches will be at least the age of majority,and have graduated from <br /> high school. Coaches will have either worked with children before or coached sports in other contexts and will all be <br /> trained to teach physical education using PE+curriculum. <br /> CITY will be responsible for advertising, interviewing,and filling these positions. Contractual agreements, including <br /> consultant or employment agreements for staff,will be made through CITY. The amount of SHD funding allocated for <br /> PE Coordinator includes salary and benefits. If City offers salary and benefits above the funding amount established <br /> by SHD pursuant to this Agreement, SHD will not be responsible for funding these additional amounts. SHD will not <br /> be responsible for any salary, benefits, insurance or other employee costs and shall not be deemed to be an <br /> employer of the personnel hired by CITY. <br /> Memorandum of Understonding <br /> Sequoia Healthcare District/Redwood City Parks,Recreation,and Community Services <br /> Healthy Schools Initiative 2014-2015 <br /> 3 <br />
