All cultural materials recovered as part of the monitoring program will be subject to scientific analysis,professional museum curation, and a report prepared according to current professional standards. Finding: Implementation of MM CUL—4 would reduce impacts to unknown buried archaeological resources to a less than significant level. Facts in Support of Finding: Implementation of MM CUL—4 would reduce impacts to unknown archaeological resources if encountered during ground disturbing construction activities by informing construction personnel involved with site clearing and grading that there is a potential for discovery of archaeological materials, educating construction personnel on indicators of archaeological site deposits, and by an archaeologist spot check monitoring during grading and subsurface construction and watching for and evaluating artifacts or resources that may be uncovered. If archaeological resources are encountered,impacts to these resources would be reduced by halting grading and excavation work within 50-meter radius of the find(s) to allow the qualified archaeologist to evaluate the find and make sure impacts to the cultural resource(s) are avoided or mitigated, as described in Section 2.1 —Cultural Resources of the Draft EIR on pages 32-49,which is hereby incorporated by reference. Impact: Impact CUL—5: The project may encounter unknown human remains during construction, including those interred outside of formal cemeteries. Mitigation: MM CUL—5: If human remains are discovered at the project site during construction,work at the specific construction site at which the remains have been uncovered shall be suspended, and the San Mateo County coroner shall be immediately notified. If the remains are determined by the County coroner to be Native American,the Native American Heritage Commission (NAHC) shall be notified within 24 hours, and the guidelines of the NAHC shall be adhered to in the treatment and disposition of the remains.
